The NoordBrabands Museum came with the question of how to make the museum more interesting and interactive for high school students.
The aim is therefore to allow the students to look at art more critically and to let them form their own stories.
To do this, we looked at what stimulates students... Doing something that is not allowed; touch a painting.
Because this will unfortunately never be allowed in reality, we tried to make the artwork as tangible as possible in an interactive way. This quickly brought us to the concept and performance of the
five senses; sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.
five senses; sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.
In our project group, I took on the task of designing sensory maps. Instead of using traditional cards, I decided to create a sensory box for the sense of touch.
For each sense card, I focused on enhancing the sensory experience. For example, on the hearing card, I included a slot where a mobile device could be inserted to play sounds. The smelling card featured a compartment designed for placing cotton wool infused with scents, allowing students to smell the card.
Our project was centered around the Noordbrabants Museum, particularly the room dedicated to Jheronimus Bosch. To make it clear which painting each card corresponded to, I included images of the paintings on the sides of
